FAQ
For Students
My Best Alaskan Life is an online health and life planning tool developed by Alaskan adolescents in partnership with The Institute for Circumpolar Health Studies (ICHS), the Alaska Division of Public Health and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. Participants can create a private account to access their own personalized dashboard, fill out the planning tool, and return at any point in the future to change or review their answers.
Any Alaskan between the ages of 14 and 20 is welcome to participate!
No, the planning tool is completely free.
Click “Sign up” from the homepage, follow the prompts, and you will be logged into your own personalized dashboard. To log in again in the future, click “Log in” from the homepage and enter the username and password you created.
No problem! Click “Log in” and then click "Forgot Password" in the popup. Follow the prompts to set a new password.
To create an account, you will need to provide an email address, name, and password. We don’t need to know your real name, phone number, or any other personal information. Answers will be accessible by My Best Alaskan Life researchers but will be completely anonymous. This means they will not be able to link you with your answers. The answers may be used to determine if the planning tool is helping participants reach their goals. Use a name and email that is not personally identifiable.
It’s up to you! If you’d like to take part in the planning tool on your own, you can absolutely do that. However, if you choose to, there will be opportunities to share information with your parents or another trusted adult.
No problem. If you participate and then decide to stop for any reason, you can simply not log in again.
Every time you log into your account, you will have the opportunity to revisit any part of the planning tool to change your answers.
There are resources both in your community and statewide that are always there for you. Visit our Resources page [linked] to find a list of hotlines, clinics and organizations that you can reach out to for support.

Not without their permission. Students are encouraged to share their participation with their parent or trusted adult, but it is not mandatory. If they choose to, there will be opportunities for them to share information with you.
